The basic information you enter in modernLINK® Manufactured Home Rate, Quote and Submit determines the eligible programs you can select. All fields are required unless specified by an optional indicator.

The Location Zip Information page provides a place for you to specify the location of the property to be insured. This ZIP location is used for rating.
To enter Zip Location Information:
Enter the ZIP code that is assigned to the property location.
When first entered, this information is copied to Zip Code of Property on the Basic Information page. To change this value, you must return to this page and enter a new ZIP code.
If the location ZIP contains a split rating territory, the program prompts you to select a more specific location.
Click Next.
The Basic Information page opens.
Complete the Basic Information form.
The Basic Information page provides a place for you to enter applicant personal information, agency information, as well as how the unit is to be used, for example, Primary Residence, Seasonal, etc. This information, along with location ZIP, determines the eligible insurance programs.

Quote Effective Date |
The date on which the quote is to be in effect. modernLINK uses this date to determine current coverages and rate. modernLINK determines maximum backdating based upon your profile and line of business. When this date is changed, all coverage selections will remain, but the quote is automatically re-rated. |
Agency Code |
Your agency code. Your security profile determines the agency codes in the list. |
Sub-Producer Code |
A six-digit sub-producer code. For sub-producers, the security profile determines the sub-producer codes in the list. If required, general agents or American Modern must manually enter the code. A sub-produce is an agent who has a contractual relationship with another, primary, agent or managing general agent to place risks with a carrier through that primary agent. |
Company |
A name that designates the particular American Modern company under which the policy will be written. When a change is made to the Company number, any previously selected coverages and rated premiums are blanked out and must be reselected and rated. modernLINK then reauthorizes the agent-number/company-number/state combination. Return to the Basic Information page to change the Company. |
Use of Unit |
Indicates how the home is to be used. Primary Residence. Manufactured homes and stationary travel trailers owned by the insured that are occupied on a full-time basis as the insured’s primary residence for at least five consecutive months. (Homes may not be rented to others for any length of time.) Rental. Homes owned by the insured that are rented to others. Seasonal. Manufactured homes and stationary travel trailers owned by the insured that are occupied on an intermittent or non-continuous basis as the insured’s secondary or seasonal residence for less than five consecutive months. (Homes may not be rented to others for any length of time.) Tenant. A manufactured home policy written to cover the interest of the person renting the home. NOTE: If Tenant is selected, only the Personal Property limit value is required to complete Basic Information. Commercial. Homes used for light office, professional or institutional purposes. (Examples of light office usage include insurance agencies and real estate offices.) |

Date the home was purchased. |
Purchase Price |
Dollar amount paid for the home. |
Model Year |
The model year of the home. |
Length |
The length of the home in feet. |
Width |
The width of the home in feet. |
How many miles is home from a fire department? |
The distance from the home to the nearest fire department. |
Location |
Spaces - if the home is located in a manufactured home park, these choices represent the number of spaces in the park. Private Property - home is located on private property. Unknown - not known at this time. |
Is home on permanent foundation? |
Indicates if home is on a permanent foundation. A permanent foundation is either: (1) a full below-grade foundation; or (2) blocks, piers, or some other type of foundation with skirting, and anchoring with tie-downs. |
Is land owned by applicant? |
Indicates if the applicant owns the land on which the home is located. |
Does home have a composite roof? |
Indicates if the home has a composite roof. A composite roof is anything other than a metal roof. |
Does home have protective siding? |
Indicates if the home has protective siding. Protective siding includes wood, masonite, or vinyl siding. |
Is home located inside city limits? |
Indicates if the home is located within city limits. |
Is home tied down?

Indicates if home is tied down. The tie-down anchors the manufactured home to the ground. Metal straps are anchored in the ground by augers or in cement, and either attach to the support frame or pass over the top of the home. These straps provide stability in strong winds and help prevent the manufactured home from being blown over. |
Is the risk a modular home? |
Indicates if the home is built in a factory. |
Is the Insured the original owner of the home? |
Indicates if the Insured is the original owner of the home. |
MSB Calculated Value |
This field contains the value of the Manufactured Home determined by Marshall and Swift Boeckh (MSB), based on the specifics of the home entered on the Basic Information page. The Replacement Cost is the same value as Reconstruction Cost with Debris Removal on MSB's RCT Express site. The Actual Cash Value is the same value as RC with Historical Depreciation on MSB's RCT Express site. If you have made any changes to the home or unattached structures on MSB's RCT Express site, you must calculate and save the new values on RCT. Then click the REFRESH VALUES FROM MSB. This will import the new values into modernLINK. The GO TO MSB COST ESTIMATOR button opens a new browser window and takes you to the home valuation for this quote on MSB's RCT Express site. The View MSB Report (pdf) opens a PDF of the home valuation for this quote from MSB's RCT Express site. You may save a copy of this and share it with the customer. |
Manufactured Home Limit |
The dollar limit of the manufactured home. This value excludes land value and includes any additional attached structures (for example, an add-on room or garage). |
Attached/Unattached Structures
The Attached/Unattached Structures form provides a place to enter details if you answered Yes to the question "Are there any attached or unattached structures on the premises?" If you answered Yes, the Attached/Unattached Structures form opens.
You are required to provide the structure details in order to submit the quote.

If the type of structure is Room Addition and the size of the room exceeds the size of the home, a Do Not Bind message is generated. To submit the quote, a memo must be attached to document this condition and a photograph of the structure must be sent to American Modern. |
Construction Type |
The construction type, for example, wood, steel, metal frame. |
Value |
The value (cash replacement cost) of the structure. |
Year of Construction |
The year of construction for the structure. |

The Eligible Programs page opens unless the Location Zip contains a split rating territory. In that case, the Location Definition page opens.
Select the location definition, if displayed. Click Next.

If the Location Zip indicates a restricted area, the Do Not Bind - Do Not Submit underwriting message displays. If temporary restrictions are in place, for example when there is a threat of severe weather, a system message provides notification. You can continue to quote but cannot bind coverage or submit for policy issuance at this time. |
