External Underwriting Request

External underwriting refers to the two possible reports required by American Modern for certain programs and/or when certain information is supplied during the quote process. External underwriting requests include:

Credit Score: An insurance credit score may be used as part of the underwriting evaluation.

Some states may not allow the use of credit information to decline an applicant. Insurance credit scores will only be used as part of the underwriting evaluation in states that allow the use of credit information for acceptability of a risk.

American Modern Insurance Group uses the ChoicePoint CPLink ATTRACT Property scoring model to obtain credit scores on Site Built Dwellings.

modernLINK® limits the number of times credit score and CLUE  information are retrieved. If the number of tries exceeds the limit, you can continue to submit but must attach a memo to the application.

CLUE Report: A Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) report is used as part of the underwriting evaluation. This report provides a record of previously submitted claims to compare with the information you have entered in the current quote. A CLUE report provides the following information: date of prior loss, cause of prior loss, where the loss occurred, and amount paid for the loss. Not all losses are reported to CLUE.
